Apart from the different treaties, the 1977 convention was completed on the prohibition of military or any other hostile use of environmental modification techniques which set out a number of prohibitions also with respect to outer space and celestial bodies.
Minus the facts mentioned above, NASA modified the surface of the moon after launching the 2-ton kinetic weapon which created a 5-mile wide crater.
The main objective of the LCROSS mission was to explore the presence of water ice in a permanently shadowed crater near a lunar polar region. The mission launched together with the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter took place on June 18, 2009, as a part of LCROSS, the first American mission to the moon in a decade.
This ‘bombed’ moon base might explain why we haven’t explored it all these years. We are sure of its mineral and water qualities, so why bomb it to find out? It would make a perfect outpost for anyone who wants to continue the exploration of our solar system and it would also help us get to Mars and beyond.
Despite the fact that many reports and mysterious images of alleged structures on the moon, it’s nearly impossible to prove their existence and the truth behind until perhaps one day, we return to the Moon.
However, returning to the moon isn’t a guarantee that we will finally have disclosure whether or not there is an alien presence on the moon. It is indeed a mystery as to why NASA decided to break international laws and literally bombed the moon for scientific purposes.
