MARGARET MURRAY - MOTHER OF EGYPTOLOGY, GRANDMOTHER OF WICCA, OR FAIRY GODMOTHER?
Many women through history have been accused of witchcraft, often bringing them to a sad and painful demise. The late 19th and 20th century Egyptologist, Margaret Murray lived in a more modern time. This probably saved her from a similar fate - as some of her work gave open testimony to the practices of witchcraft and provided a base of knowledge for the ‘Wicca’ belief. The credibility of much of her writing is criticised due to lack of substantial evidence and advocating the existence of Fairies. What should we believe about the often-called ‘Grandmother of Wicca’?
